What Are Workplace Ergonomics? (In 100 Words or Less)

What’s so important about moving correctly and having proper posture?

In simple terms, workplace ergonomics is the science of fitting a workplace to the user’s needs. The purpose of ergonomics is to reduce discomfort, and ultimately increase efficiency and productivity.

‍In an office job or a work-from-home setup, ergonomics are important considerations. But in a fast-paced, physically demanding job at a warehouse or manufacturing facility, ergonomics should be at the forefront of employer concerns.

‍Poor ergonomics have long-term effects that can sideline an employee indefinitely and threaten their livelihood. These injuries are expensive, too, so it’s important that workplaces invest in reducing them.
